E-3 Visa
The E-3 visa is specifically reserved for Australian nationals who want to work in the United States of America. Like an H-1B visa, this visa enables Australian citizens to work in the U.S in speciality occupations.
Specialty Occupation
For the position to be considered a speciality occupation in the United States, a bachelor's degree or higher in the relevant field, or its equivalent, is required, and the theoretical and practical application of the domain is needed.
Eligibility
In order to qualify for the E-3 visa, the applicant must be:
- An Australian national
- Possess a valid employment offer letter from a company in the United States
- Must have the appropriate academic or equivalent credentials
- Fill a vacant position in a speciality occupation
E-3 Visa Duration
The initial duration of stay for an E-3 visa holder is for a period up to 2 years. Extensions may be granted indefinitely in increments of up to 2 years at a time.
Accompanying Family
The primary applicant's spouse and dependent children under 21 years of age may accompany the principal applicant of the E-3 visa. Whereas, the children of E-3 applicants are not allowed to work, the applicant's spouse is allowed to be employed in the U.S. through valid work authorization.
