New Visa Interview Questions on Asylum Intent

As of April 28, nonimmigrant visa applicants may be asked two additional questions during their U.S. consular interviews. These questions aim to assess whether an individual might seek asylum after entering the United States. Specifically, applicants may be asked about any harm they have experienced in their home country and whether they have concerns about returning—both of which are central to potential asylum claims.
