This one mistake could stop you from re-entering the U.S. in L-1 Visa status. If you received your L-1 while already in the U.S. and plan to travel internationally, you can leave—but re-entry isn’t automatic.

If it’s your first L-1, you’ll need to schedule an appointment at a U.S. embassy to get your visa stamped before coming back.

Here’s what you’ll need for the visa stamping process:
✔️ Valid passport
✔️ Recent passport-size photo
✔️ Completed DS-160 form
✔️ Interview appointment confirmation
✔️ I-797 Approval Notice (Form I-129)
✔️ Fee payment receipt
✔️ Pay stubs as proof of employment
