Founder's Story
Miatrai Brown began her legal career in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, exclusively practicing immigration and nationality law. She served as external immigration counsel to large U.S. corporations in the high-tech sector as well as trillion-dollar financial institutions. Over the years, she also supported fast-paced start-ups across a wide range of industries, including film, marketing, healthcare, aviation, and security.
After many years at top immigration firms handling employment-, investment-, and family-based immigration matters — along with risk management and regulatory compliance — Miatrai founded her practice: Direct U.S. Immigration. Her vision was to increase access to high-quality immigration support by creating a firm that combines the structural excellence of top-tier law firms with the personalized attention of a boutique practice.
As a thoughtful and strategic advisor on immigration and related matters, Ms. Brown has earned both regional and national recognition, including Northern Virginia’s Top 40 Under 40, The National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and the Emerging Women Leaders in Law award. She has also received multiple pro bono honors, educates licensed attorneys through continuing legal education (CLE) programs, and frequently provides expert legal analysis for national outlets such as Bloomberg Law and Law360.
Ms. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies with a Business concentration from Virginia Tech, and earned her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law. She is licensed to practice law in New York and Washington, D.C., and practices federal immigration law nationwide.
